THE SPACE TO BECOME
A Two Part Workshop for Vietnamese Identity, Belonging & Self
What does it mean to be Vietnamese when identity has never felt simple?
What if belonging did not require you to choose between the person you were, the person others expected you to be, and the person you are becoming?
The Space to Become is a two part guided workshop with Amy Minh Hạnh Corey, created for anyone exploring Vietnamese identity, belonging, culture, and self.
Through reflection, writing, conversation, and community, we will create space for the many versions of ourselves we carry and begin asking what it means to become Vietnamese on our own terms.
Workshop Dates
The Space in Me That Is Vietnamese (Sunday, October 11, 2026)
7:00 PM to 10:00 PM
Part One begins with the self.
Together, we will explore how family, culture, language, migration, adoption, expectations, survival, and belonging may have shaped the ways we understand ourselves.
Through guided reflection and writing, participants will be invited to meet the different versions of themselves they have carried and begin creating space for who they are becoming.
A central part of this session will be a personal letter writing exercise exploring the self that helped you survive and the self that exists today.
Becoming Yourself, Together (Sunday, October 18, 2026)
7:00 PM to 10:00 PM
Part Two shifts from individual reflection toward community.
After spending a week noticing the different versions of ourselves that appear across family, work, friendships, culture, and everyday life, we will return to explore what happens when our stories are witnessed by others.
Through small conversations, reflection, writing, and shared exercises, we will explore how community can help us feel seen without asking us to change who we are.
This session is about connection without comparison and discovering that becoming does not have to happen alone.
