Beginning in Hà Nội, traveling through the mountains of Mai Châu, the forests and coffee landscapes of the Central Highlands, before arriving in Hồ Chí Minh City, this journey reveals the many identities that exist within Vietnam.
Along the way, you'll spend time with master artisans, local families, cultural practitioners, and members of Vietnam's diverse ethnic communities. Through shared meals, meaningful conversations, and guided reflection, you'll discover how history, heritage, craftsmanship, and everyday life continue to shape the country today.

For us, it begins in Northern Vietnam, where ancient traditions, historic cities, and mountain communities invite us to slow down and listen.
Over the next five days, we'll discover that heritage is more than history. It lives in the hands of artisans, around family tables, within the stories of elders, and through the traditions communities continue carrying forward every day.
From the vibrant streets of Hà Nội, to the cultural heart of Bắc Ninh, to the welcoming homes of the White Thai people in Mai Châu, this chapter introduces the many voices that together shape Vietnam.
As we travel, reflect, and build community with one another, we'll begin laying the foundation for a journey that is not only across Vietnam, but inward as well.
Day 1 • Hà Nội
Many Ways to Belong
Welcome to Vietnam.
Our journey begins in Hà Nội, the country's thousand year old capital, where history, tradition, and modern life exist side by side.
Our first experience introduces an important idea that will shape the rest of the journey: there has never been just one way to be Vietnamese.
As we explore Vietnam's national museum dedicated to the country's 54 officially recognized ethnic communities, we'll begin understanding the incredible diversity that exists across the country. Each community carries its own language, customs, clothing, beliefs, and traditions, reminding us that Vietnamese identity has always been rich, layered, and evolving.
Later, we'll visit one of Vietnam's oldest traditional craft villages, where generations of artisans continue preserving techniques passed down through their families for centuries. Here, we'll witness how heritage survives through the hands of people who choose to carry these traditions forward.
As evening arrives, we'll gather for our first family style welcome dinner. Around a shared table, strangers become friends, stories begin unfolding, and the foundation for the journey ahead starts to take shape.

Day 2 • Bắc Ninh & Hà Nội
Stories That Continue
Today we travel just beyond Hà Nội into Bắc Ninh Province, a region often considered the cradle of Vietnamese culture and home to many of the country's oldest artistic traditions.
Here, we'll meet one of the last remaining master artists preserving Đông Hồ folk painting, a centuries old art form that has long reflected Vietnamese values, folklore, and everyday life. As we listen to her story and observe her work, we'll discover that traditions survive not by chance, but because someone chooses every day to protect them for the next generation.
Returning to Hà Nội, we'll continue exploring another chapter of Vietnam's history through sites that reveal the country's resilience, sacrifice, and determination across different periods of time.
We'll end the day experiencing the city from a slower perspective, giving ourselves time to observe the neighborhoods, conversations, and everyday moments that often pass unnoticed.

Day 3 • Mai Châu
Welcomed Like Family
Leaving the energy of Hà Nội behind, we'll travel into the peaceful valley of Mai Châu, home to generations of the White Thai (Thái Trắng) people whose traditions continue shaping daily life today.
Over the next two days, we'll slow down and experience a different rhythm of Vietnam. Through conversations with local families, traditional craftsmanship, shared meals, and time spent within the village, we'll gain a deeper appreciation for how culture is preserved through everyday living rather than performances or museums.
Rather than staying in a hotel, we'll be welcomed into a locally owned homestay, where hospitality becomes one of our greatest teachers. Here, we'll discover that belonging is often expressed through simple gestures: an invitation into someone's home, food prepared with care, and stories shared across generations.

After settling into village life, we'll spend another day experiencing Mai Châu beyond its beautiful landscapes. Home to generations of the White Thai people, this valley has long been shaped by agriculture, weaving, craftsmanship, and a strong sense of community. Here, traditions are not preserved behind glass. They are lived each day through the routines, relationships, and practices that continue to define everyday life.
As we walk through the village and surrounding rice fields, we'll be encouraged to observe rather than rush, to listen rather than simply photograph. Some of the most memorable moments often happen between destinations through unexpected conversations, shared laughter, or the quiet beauty of everyday life.

This morning, we'll say goodbye to the mountains and begin our journey back to Hà Nội.
Returning to the capital after several days in Mai Châu offers a different perspective. Streets that once felt busy may now feel familiar. Conversations become easier to notice. Everyday moments begin carrying new meaning.
Before continuing south, we'll spend one final afternoon exploring the Old Quarter, wandering its narrow streets, historic shop houses, neighborhood cafés, and local markets. With no rush to check off landmarks, this is an opportunity to simply be present and appreciate the rhythm of one of Vietnam's oldest neighborhoods.
The remainder of the afternoon offers free time to revisit a favorite café, enjoy one last bowl of Northern Vietnamese cuisine, pick up meaningful keepsakes, or simply reflect on everything you've experienced during the first chapter of the journey.
As evening approaches, we'll gather for dinner before preparing for tomorrow's flight to Vietnam's Central Highlands, where new landscapes, Indigenous communities, and another chapter of the journey await.

Day 6 • Đà Lạt
A New Chapter Begins
Today we arrive in Đà Lạt, nestled within Vietnam's Central Highlands.
Known for its cool climate, pine forests, waterfalls, and rolling hills, Đà Lạt feels like an entirely different Vietnam. The pace softens. The air changes. Even the silence feels different.
After checking into our accommodations, today is intentionally gentle.
We'll take time to settle into our new surroundings with a leisurely walk, explore a neighborhood café, enjoy dinner together, and begin adjusting to the slower rhythm that will define the coming days.

Together, we'll visit a local tea farm where we'll learn how tea is cultivated across the hillsides of the Central Highlands. More importantly, we'll hear the stories behind the land, the families who continue caring for it, and the traditions that have shaped this region long before modern tourism arrived.

Together with members of the Ê Đê people, we'll harvest coffee, learn traditional farming practices, and experience firsthand the work, patience, and care behind every harvest.

Day 12 • Sài Gòn

Today we begin exploring Sài Gòn, a city whose past continues to shape its present.
Together, we'll visit the War Remnants Museum, creating space to better understand one of the most significant chapters in Vietnam's modern history. Through photographs, personal accounts, and historical exhibits, we'll gain insight into the human impact of war and the resilience that continues to define the country today.
This experience is not about politics.

Together with the Third Culture Vietnam team, we'll set out on a custom motorbike experience designed specifically for our community. Riding through neighborhoods beyond the typical tourist route, we'll discover the city through local stories, hidden cafés, vibrant markets, quiet alleyways, and the everyday places that make Sài Gòn feel alive.
This isn't about checking landmarks off a list.
It's about understanding how people live here today.
We'll stop often, not simply to take photographs, but to meet people, share conversations, enjoy coffee, and experience the city at street level.
Throughout the day, we'll enjoy some of Sài Gòn's most beloved street food, learning how recipes, family businesses, and neighborhood traditions continue shaping everyday life across the city.
This experience reminds us that Vietnam is not frozen in history.
It is young.

Group Size: We prioritize a small and intimate group setting to enhance the travel experience for each participant. The tour is limited to 12 participants. This approach ensures personalized attention and fosters deeper connections, both among group members and with the local culture.

If the 2026 Tours are canceled because they does not meet the minimum number of participants, we will provide a refund of your deposit, minus any bank transaction fees. Alternatively, you may choose to transfer your deposit to a future tour date. We are committed to accommodating your needs and ensuring you have the opportunity to join us on this exceptional adventure when it best suits you.

The tour price includes accommodations in 4 or 5-star hotels, charming homestays, and eco-friendly lodges, daily breakfast and lunch, full escort by Heritage Hosts along with local guides, and all city transfers including bus transportation and domestic flights within Vietnam.

Evening Meals: Evening meals are not included in the tour package. International flights to and from Vietnam are not included in the tour price and must be arranged independently. Most participants will also need a valid visa to enter Vietnam, which should be obtained before departure.
